Rare example of lost language found on stone hidden 2500 years ago | Ars Technica

For that reason, a new discovery made by the Mugello Valley
Archaeological Project could be revolutionary. At a dig outside
Florence, a group of researchers have unearthed a massive stone tablet,
known as a stele, covered in Etruscan writing. The 500-pound stone is 4
feet high and was once part of a sacred temple display. But 2500 years
ago it was torn down and used as a foundation stone in a much larger
temple. Hidden away for thousands of years, the sandstone stab has been
preserved remarkably well. Though it's chipped, and possibly burned on
one side, the stele contains 70 legible letters and punctuation marks.
That makes it one of the longest examples of Etruscan writing known in
the modern world.

Punk Band Misfits Issues Trademark C&D To 'Punk Rock Flea Market,' Receives C&D From Flea Market In Return

The flea market has agreed to stop using the font going forward, but it has issued some demands
of its own to the Misfits' label and legal representation. It's the
next best thing to setting the demand letter on fire and dropping it on
Cyclopian Music's most flammable spot of carpet. (Emphasis added to all
the best parts.)

“Dark Skies” – 20 Years Later | Mysterious Universe

It was 20 years ago that NBC unleashed a much talked about and still widely remembered UFO-themed show: Dark Skies.
It was the brainchild of Brent V. Friedman and Bryce Zabel. The show
was not destined to last, however. It ran for just 20 episodes, from
September 1996 to May 1997. The show focused on the world of two people
caught up in a Cold War-era conspiracy of extraterrestrial proportions:
John Loengard and his girlfriend, Kim Sayers (played by Eric Close and
Megan Ward).

AWESOME SERIES!

Sci-Hub drama continues | Techdirt

Last month, Techdirt wrote about the growing interest in Sci-Hub,
which provides free access to research papers -- more than 47,000,000
of them at the time of writing. As Mike noted then, Elsevier's attempt
to make the site go away by suing it has inevitably produced a classic Streisand Effect, whereby many more people know about it as a direct result.

Watch these kids react to using Windows 95 for the first time (video)

Windows 95 is over 20
years old — yes, it’s been that long. For those of you who remember the
days of Windows 95, congrats on being old (ok, you’re not really that
old). For many, Windows 95 is an ancient operating system — as evident
in the video above where several kids explore the operating system for
the very first time.
