Hi-C to Investigate Activity in Solar Atmosphere | SpaceRef - Your Space Reference

The telescope is slated for launch in July 2012. It will fly aboard a Black Brant sounding rocket to be launched from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

The mission will demonstrate the technology necessary to collect 150-kilometer-resolution images of the sun in the extreme ultraviolet spectrum. Using a resolution 5 times greater than any previous imager, Hi-C will observe the small-scale processes that exist everywhere in hot magnetized coronal plasma. Additionally, the mission is designed to study the mechanisms for growth, diffusion and reconnection of magnetic fields of the corona, and to help understand the coupling of small-scale dynamic and eruptive processes to large scale dynamics.

BBC News - Cow and woman found in Cambridgeshire Anglo-Saxon dig

The skeleton was found with grave goods including brooches and hundreds of amber and decorated glass beads.
"She also had a complete chatelaine [keychain] set, which is an iron girdle and a symbol of her high status," Dr Sayer said.
"It indicates she had access to the community's wealth.
"She is almost certainly a regional elite - a matriarchal figure buried with the objects that describe her identity to the people who attended her funeral."

Archaeologists have unearthed the foundation of what appears to have been a massive, ancient structure, possibly a bridge leading to an artificial island, in what is now southeast Wales. The strange ruin, its discoverers say, is unlike anything found before in the United Kingdom and possibly all of Europe.

"It's a real mystery," said Steve Clarke, chairman and founding member of the Monmouth Archaeological Society, who discovered the structural remains earlier this month in Monmouth, Wales

Duo Security Advances Two-Factor Authentication - Smart Phones - BYTE

An impressive claim Duo made at the competition is that its clients credentials are more secure than RSA's. "Even if we were to be breached," CEO Song said, "There'd be no way to for an attacker to go and impersonate all the clients, all the end users, because they don't have the private key that's actually on the user's phone." The technology uses a patented system that combines public and private encryption and prevents sharing secrets, he said.
The claim was in response to the judge's question about the widely reported heist on RSA's data centers last March. RSA reported the breach cost $66 million in restitution to clients. For the firms using RSA's two-factor authentication technology, it was a mess to clean up. For example, CRN.com reported that, "... Lockheed [Martin] had to shut down its computer systems and reissue tokens to many of its employees, while requiring a password reset for its 120,000 workers."

Miami face-eating incident
Rudy Eugene, left, whom police shot and killed as he ate the face of a homeless man, Ronald Poppo, right. (Miami-Dade Police Department / May 31, 2012)

"Zombie apocalypse," voodoo curses and a potent street drug called "bath salts." Those are just a few of the angles the media have pursued after the bizarre case of a naked man shot and killed by Miami police as he was eating the face of another man.
