Google Street View before and after shows tornado's true destruction | DVICE

It can be hard to picture what the neighborhoods of Joplin, MO looked like before a tornado came through and flattened pretty much everything. But this comparison shot using Google Street view makes the destruction painfully clear.

Missouri photographer Aaron Fuhrman went and tok a photo of the scene on a corner in Joplin, then compared it to a Street View shot from the same location. It's shocking, more shocking than the photos of destruction alone. A perfectly normal neighborhood, gone in a span of minutes. Terrifying.

NO WAY! Sony Hacked Yet Again!

Hard as it may be to believe, Sony has been hacked yet again.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, So-net Entertainment Corp., a Japanese ISP owned by the technology giant, said that hackers accessed its customer rewards site earlier this week and stole customers' redeemable gift points worth about $1,225.

The incident is the latest in a weeks-long string of hacks and breaches of security for Sony. The trouble began on April 19, when the company began investigating and ultimately discovered a massive breach of security on its PlayStation Network, a cyber scandal that compromised the personal information of more than 100 million users.

Why America's Healthcare Sucks [infographic]

May 17, 2011 | by Tim

You know it is true. According to the CDC, over 40 million Americans did not have health insurance during 2009. Obviously something has to change, but socialized medicine is not the answer. It is just one possible solution. Now that I have put myself in a political grey area, I will continue on with this topic.

Although smoking, drinking and the elderly are lower per capita in America than most European countries, it doesn’t mean we don’t have problems. With massive outpatient costs and over-paid doctors, things can really add up over here.

McDonald's orders 7,000 touchscreen kiosks to replace cashiers

McDonald's recently added 64,000 people to its payroll in the United States, but job prospects in Europe for those so inclined to work in the fast food industry are looking pretty grim right about now. That's because the fast food giant is poised to add touchscreen kiosks in more than 7,000 of its restaurants in Europe in effort to replace actual, human cashiers.

Treatment of chronic low back pain can reverse abnormal brain activity and function

ScienceDaily (May 17, 2011) — It likely comes as no surprise that low back pain is the most common form of chronic pain among adults. Lesser known is the fact that those with chronic pain also experience cognitive impairments and reduced gray matter in parts of the brain associated with pain processing and the emotional components of pain, like depression and anxiety.
