New Richmond building inspector drowns at Shell Lake.

New Richmond's building inspector John Frisco, 56, died Friday following a fishing accident in northwestern Wisconsin.

According to Washburn County Sheriff's officials, Frisco, a rural Clear Lake resident, drowned after his kayak capsized on Shell Lake while he was fishing.

Washburn County 911 received a call just after 1 p.m. Friday of a man calling for help from a sinking boat. His body was later pulled from the lake.


Frisco is the fourth New Richmond city employee in the past year or so to die unexpectedly. Police Officer Scott Turbeville, 39, died in October of 2010. Rick Powers, 57, the city's water department superintendent, died in February. Michael Geraghty, 55, street department employee died in April.
