Spokane, Washington

Despite witness accounts that a meteor that streaked across the Pacific Northwest skies this week struck Earth, scientists at the University of Washington (UW) say it likely disintegrated in the sky.

Some witnesses reported seeing Tuesday's meteor hit the ground southwest of Ritzville in central Washington, sending local officials on a fruitless hunt for the crater.

A meteor zipped across the U.S. Pacific Northwest sky early Tuesday morning before exploding, possibly littering eastern Oregon with marble- to basketball-size space rocks, an expert says.

Impact sites are yet to be found, according to Richard Pugh, a scientist with the Cascadia Meteorite Laboratory at Portland State University in Oregon.

The Field Trip

A group of Kentucky second, third, and fourth graders, accompanied by two female teachers, went on a field trip to Churchill Downs, the famous Louisville race track to see and learn about thoroughbred horses.

When it was time to take the children to the bathroom it was decided that the girls would go with one teacher and the boys would go with the other.

The teacher assigned to the boys was waiting outside the men's room when one of the boys came out and told her that none of them could reach the urinal. Having no choice, she went inside, helped the boys with their pants, and began hoisting the boys up, one by one, holding onto their "wee-wees" to direct the flow away from their clothes.

As she lifted one, she couldn't help but notice that he was unusually well endowed. Trying not to show that she was staring, the teacher said, "You must be in the fourth grade." "No, ma'am," he replied. "I'm riding Silver Arrow in the seventh race."

Daylight Saving Time - When do we change our clocks?

On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.

Actual Good Tip for Teen Curfews!

Ensure your teen makes it home by curfew

Tired of having to wait up until your teen comes home to make sure they made it by curfew? Relax, go to bed, they will if you follow this tip. Make sure they have keys to get in the house. Set an alarm clock to the curfew time and place it where you can hear it if it goes off. Warn your teen that he/she must get home in time to turn it off BEFORE it sounds. If you are awakened by the alarm clock - they obviously didn't make it home on time. Works like a charm.

Gleaned from the daytipper daily email. They have some useful tips every now and then! Try googling daytipper, I don't trust their email links...

Inactive Users Tracker (Freeware and Commercial)

Many corporate security policies require that Active Directory user accounts must be disabled after certain period of inactivity. This is a good practice; doing so keeps Active Directory secure and clean. For example, someone can create a user account, leave it untouched for many days, and then use it to perform malicious activity against an organization. Another example is employee retirement: User accounts are usually disabled when an employee quits an organization. Most HR databases only keep information about "primary" user account, but what if a user had additional user accounts?

Just like the expensive units you hear the DJ’s use, it changes your voice in a multitude of effects! You can sound just like a robot, you can change the pitch of your voice variably from low to high. For even more effect, ad vibrato effect to your voice! Great for parties, recordings, bands, and the ever popular “prank phone calls”! Not as though we endorse those incredibly funny prank phone call CD’s, TV shows, and DVD’s!

Coding Horror: Get Your Database Under Version Control

The database is a critical part of your application. If you deploy version 2.0 of your application against version 1.0 of your database, what do you get? A broken application, that's what. That's why your database should always be under source control, right next to your application code. You deploy the app, and you deploy the database. Like peanut butter and chocolate, they are two great tastes that taste great together.
