What my birthdate means.

Your Birthdate: August 6

A birthday on the 6th of the month adds a tone of responsibility, helpfulness, and understanding to your natural inclinations.

Those born on the sixth are more apt to be open and honest with everyone, and more caring about family and friends, too.

This is a number associated with responsibility and caring - this birthday lends a degree of concern for others.

Hypersonic Sound coming to you now, no now, no.... NOW!

Popular Science | Hypersonic Sound

Woody Norris has a way of getting inside your head ...

by David Sparrow

Woody Norris has a way of getting inside your head. No, we don't mean his overpowering handshake or Barnumesque penchant for self-promotion ("This is the biggest thing in audio in 77 years"). We mean HyperSonic Sound, his latest creation. (A prolific inventor, Norris, 64, also won a Best of What's New for a personal flying machine.)

Unlike traditional speakers, which scatter sound, Norris' device streams it in a precise, laser-like beam for up to 150 yards with almost no degradation in quality or volume. If that seems incredible, trust me, it is.

When I met Norris in September he pointed the 7-inch-square emitter at me from 30 feet away. Suddenly I heard the sound of birds chirping. The noise didn't seem to emanate from his device; I felt like it was generated inside my noggin. Yet a guy just 2 feet away from me couldn't hear it.

Yahoo! News - Top Stories Photos - AP

AP: "This artist's rendering provided by NASA shows a concept of what the night sky might look like from a hypothetical alien planet in a star system with an asteroid belt 25 times as massive as the one in our own solar system. NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope found evidence for such a belt around the nearby star called HD 69830, when its infrared eyes spotted dust, presumably from asteroids banging together. The telescope did not find any evidence for a planet in the system, but astronomers speculate one or more may be present. (AP Photo/NASA) "

SW/2265072The Eta Aquarid meteor shower will be appearing in 2005 from April 19 to May 28 and will peak around May 5, 2005.

The meteors will appear to come from a point in the constellation of Aquarius. Under ideal conditions it's possible to see 60 meteors an hour although this is more likely in the Southern hemisphere.

The ideal time for viewing the Eta Aquarids is the period after midnight before the Moon rises very early in the morning.

My Rant against FedEx

My Rant against FedEx

April 16th 2005 - Clear Lake, WI

Don't get me wrong. I don't hate Federal Express. I just feel that I wouldn't want anything to do with their stock in the future.

Case in point. I made an order around April 10th and chose FedEx Saver. My address was perfectly legit. The company, Newegg, is perfectly legit and printed my address correctly. Delivery was to occur before April 14th.

April 15th comes and goes, no package. I trace on the web. Stuck in White Bear Lake, MN. Package address is Clear Lake, WI. About an hour away. They mark in the details that address could not be found.

What I want to know is where did they look? MN or WI? Did they even try to deliver? Their complaint was that the phone number that Newegg provided on the label was disconnected. Its true. It was the phone number at work when we were located in Hudson. I still don't get it.

They've delivered here before. The house hasn't moved.

I don't get it. What happens if there is no phone number provided? Send it back? Doubt it..

Choose USPS or UPS.

Do not use FedEx if you are counting on something being there when you need it.

Ghost group spends night at jail

A team of ghost investigators will be spending Saturday night in a Cornwall jail trying to find evidence of ghosts.

Ten researchers from the Paranormal Site Investigators (PSI) group will use scientific equipment to try and record any spooky goings-on at Bodmin Jail.

Members of the group visited the jail several years ago as holidaymakers and took some photographs which they said revealed "interesting phenomena".

The group, which has believers and sceptics, will spend 10 hours there.

The jail is reputed to be home to several spirits and the PSI team will be using a range of equipment, including infra-red cameras, humidity detectors and electro-magnetic sensors.

The not-for-profit paranormal investigation and research group was formed in 2004.

Bodmin Jail dates back to 1776 and was the site of many public executions.

The last hanging took place in 1909 and the Crown Jewels and Doomsday Book were stored at the jail during the First World War.
